Dear Entertainment Industry,
Brown and Arab are not interchangeable.*
Also, fuck you.

* I’m looking at you, Community. You can only stretch a Pakistani accent so far. Goddamn. Also, way to go with the Arabic dubbing. I don’t think I’ve ever been so embarrassed for a TV show that I couldn’t sit through a scene.

Furthermore, under [British Columbia's land registration] system, priorities are based on the date of registration rather than the date when the right is acquired, and therefore cannot accommodate aboriginal title, which has its source in the occupancy and use of lands prior to the assertion of sovereignty by the Crown.

Faith

I didn’t think I had much faith in the legal system, but it must have been a wellspring — it must be an infinite supply, else it wouldn’t be shaken this badly this often.
Land

[T]he land itself is one thing, and the estate in land is another thing, for an estate in the land is a time in the land, or land for a time, and there are diversities of estates, which are no more than diversities of time, for he who has a fee-simple in land has a time in the land without end, or the land for a time without end, and he who has land in tail has a time in the land or the land for time as long as he has issues of his body, and he who has an estate in land for life has no time in it longer than for his own life, and so of him who has an estate in land for the life of another, or for years.

streetside

So I did everything on my to-do list, except study. Then, to counteract the panic attack that threatened to overwhelm me when I realised how far behind I was for an exam I have on Tuesday, I picked up my camera and went for a walk.
I’m fascinated by the backs of buildings — alleyways and No Parking signs; impromptu parking lots and fire escapes; empty shopping carts and discarded sofas; and most of all, the colours of dumpsters. So it took me close to an hour to cover four blocks and I didn’t come in until my hands had turned the colour of brick and my fingers were in pain and stiff.
389 pictures. I think I’ll create a minisite here just for this way of looking at cities. But in the meantime, Facebook albums will have to do.

Full moons throw halos; when it’s cloudy, the halos turn multicolored, like rainbows come full circle.

It’s one thing that civilians in Vancouver are abysmal drivers (whereas in Toronto, people drive like they’re angry, in Vancouver, they drive like they don’t know how). It’s another thing entirely that bus drivers here drive like they’re afflicted with false delusions of racecar grandeur.
Flights
Dec 1, 2009
This morning, on the way to the bus stop, I did a count and realised I’ve taken 9 flights — 11 if you include stopovers — in the last 8 months.
Another thing I realised was that flying makes me sad.
prejudicially
Dec 1, 2009
Does it not prejudicially, that is to say injuriously, disadvantageously, which is the meaning of the word “prejudicially” …
